Fun in the Midwest

February found us in the Midwest, specifically Valparaiso, IN, South Bend, IN, and Chicago, IL. The weather was quite warm for early February; in fact Chicago had record highs the day we were there, but our San Diego bodies still shivered as we saw the sights.

Clara and Daddy at University of Notre Dame.

Go Irish!

While Mama was doing interviews, Clara and Daddy headed to the Dunes in northern Indiana. "Whoa, Daddy, it's windy!..."

"That's better."

Clara loves horses.

In Chicago we took time to see the sights. We visited Shedd Aquarium...

and walked down to Millennium Park.

Clara had just learned "SOOO big." Can you tell?

We are a happy family.

Cool art in Chicago. See if you can find us in the reflection.

There we are!

It was a fun night.

Clara was pooped by the end.

The next morning we walked down to the waterfront at Lake Michigan.

Just like her parents, Clara loves being outdoors.

Warmest February 9 in Chicago since Lincoln was president, and we're still bundled up!

"Oh Daddy, you're so silly."

We had a blast. The job didn't work out for me, but that's a-okay. We're still not sure where we will be next year, but like our experience with applying for grad school we know that God's got it taken care of. We will of course keep you all posted. For now, we are enjoying our little peanut while Drew wraps up grad school in beautiful San Diego.

some thoughts...
1. I expect a "Fight On Trojans!" to compensate for the "Go Irish." (ND Irish of course; the country is fine.)
2. Why do your legs look like they could take the Sears tower in a single bound in that one pic?
3. Does Clara know "All that Jazz" yet? The Chicago sign is screamin' for it.

Summer:
1. Clara's waiting for Hanna to teach her that one. She has recently mastered pointing, so getting the "V" sign can't be too far behind.
2. Because they could.
3. Clara is definitely all about the jazz. These days Heather and I are singing more of "When you're good to Mama" and "Mr. Cellophane", respectively. ;)

Abby:
Thanks! These really are crazy, exciting times.
