Disneyland Adventure

On Wednesday we went to Disneyland to celebrate Clara's birthday a little early. It was the perfect time to go as spring breaks had not begun and the park was fairly quiet. Clara loved looking at all the people, activities, and balloons. It was a special day and made us realize, yet again, how very lucky we are.

We arrive! Clara's already stunned.

Our happy little family at "the happiest place on earth".

Clara was fascinated by the three-eyed aliens on the wall in the Astro-blasters line. The ride was another story. Perhaps choosing the shooting, flashing, loud ride for Clara's very first Disney experience wasn't the smartest.

Dad and Clara in line for "It's a Small World." This ride was a huge hit. Give Clara music, singing, and dancing little people and she's sold. (See picture and video below as evidence.)

Mama, look! Dancing dolls!

Drew and I rode Space Mountain separately for a little thrill. Here's Drew's picture coming down. If you didn't watch SNL this week and have no idea what he is doing, watch here.

We liked the singing pirates and it made us wonder what the heck we're doing getting our Ph.D.s when we could be brightening people days by dressing in funny clothes, playing music, and singing.

Drew and Clara in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. This seemed a lot bigger to me when I was younger.

Even at Disneyland, Clara just wants to cruise.

"Forget Dumbo, let's ride these rails!"

On the carousel, laughing at Dad.

Getting to sit on the "horsey". "Dad, this one's not as soft as the one at Papa's ranch!"

Clara tries to escape to the island via the Davey Crockett canoes. She doesn't know that the canoes aren't really so much "rides" as they are "work".

Obligatory Alice picture. No live Alice spottings so we settled for this awesome poster.

Disneyland is a magical place when seen through the eyes of a toddler. We had a wonderful time and are grateful that we can take Clara on these little adventures.

I went to Disneyland in October for the first time since I was 4. I was worried it would seem too little kiddish for me, but it was completely magical. Way to introduce Clara early on - LOVE the "Small World" video. When are we gonna get to see you guys?

The tradition continues! - Bam and Pobbes took us to Disneyland the year that it opened. Rick and I went to Disneyworld on our honeymoon the year that it opened! Clara's mama has been several times - glad to see the happiest place on earth is being experienced by the next generation!
